Here are links to some of our favourite people, friends and sites, that you might find useful.

Climbing Courses

The family of Jonathan Conville established the Trust (Registered Charity number 293720) after he died on the Matterhorn in the winter of 1979. The trust subsidises 3 day, beginner, mountaineering courses, run out of the campsite, from the beginning of June to the end of July. This is a hugely respected and valuable course, open to anyone, aged 18 - 30, who wants to start their alpine mounatineering careers off with a safe beginning. Cannot be recommended enough. Donations also welcome.

Airport Transfers

Easiest way to get to and from Geneva is by transfer. They will pick you up from the airport and bring you all the way to the campsite and vice-versa. (Between 30-40€ each way, depending on time of day) Can be booked direct on their website.

Always an important factor in Chamonix, we find that chamonix-meteo or the forecast have the best and most accurate weather summaries.

Tourist Information

For information on, pretty much, anything and everything in Chamonix, there are a couple of options. Between them both, there is nothing that you cannot find.

Bike / Mountain Gear Hire

The closest bike hire shop to us is 'Namaste', about a 5 min walk up the road, in Argentiere. They rent, repair and sell all mountain bikes and also rent mountain gear if you are missing something.

Lift Prices and Information

For everything to do with the lift system in Chamonix, including opening dates, hrs and lift pass prices, you can go here:

To those wishing to soar like an eagle, we can recommend 3 companies:

Les Ailes du Mont Blanc is run by ex-world champion Sandy Cochepain, who, handily, lives right next to the campsite.

The second, Cham Snow, has Fred Moevus as your pilot, someone who we have known and used for many years, with consistently good results.

The third, Airsports, is a parapente school offering the full range of flights, from kids (4 yrs and up) to freestyle flights, for those with a stronger stomach!

Mountain Guides

Climbing Mont Blanc to a 2 hr beginner climbing course, to all kinds of watersports, the internationally recognised guiding company can cater to all. They have a base 5 mins up the road, in Argentiere, where you can get information face to face.

Rafting / Canyoning

Canyoning, rafting and canoeing; Session Raft and Cham Aventure run trips both here and in the Aosta Valley, Italy.

Chalet Hire Summer / Winter Holidays

With chalets and appartments here in Chamonix and on the northern coast of Sardinia, Freshtraxxx specialise in activity holidays and have been doing so, with spectacular results, for many years.

Kids Parks

The Parc de Loisirs has summer Luges, water slides, trampolines and many other things to keep the kids entertained for an afternoon (Or 2!).
